Hectic week...

Wah! Tiring day today man. Had a 12km run in the morning and now my knees are hurting like crazy. The run itself was good. It has been quite a while since I last ran after the block leave last week. Took 1 hr 24 mins to complete the run. I felt damn shagged after the run but also felt good at the same time. But now suffering from the aftermath. Looking forward to the 14km run next week...really!
Well, tomorrow there is a company navigation exercise which will be a one day event...heard it will end at 3a.m. Now our medical platoon is a bit shorthanded sine 3 guys went for Spec 2 course and a few of the platoon medics are downgrading due to medical reasons. So now the likeliness of doing cover is higher (sigh). Well it is after all the army so I am used to this kind of situation. Then Friday I will be doing duty. Confirm shagged like mad!
Went back just now and learnt that my mum and my brother went to the hospital to visit my grandfather who was admitted today. Not sure why he was admitted. Now feeling sad and worried for him. Although I was not as close to my grandfather...he never fails to ask about me everytime he sees me. Thank goodness I visited him at my aunts last last Sunday. Hope that he will be discharged soon. If not then maybe I will pay him a visit on Saturday...

If you want to know how much I miss you, go and count the raindrops when it rains. The ones which you catch will mean how much you miss me. But the ones that you miseed out, will mean how much I miss you.

Because of Azri...

Ask him to give me an idea to write about and guess wat?...he ask me to write about river crossing. Hmmm. Kept thinking about the upcoming river crossing obstacles at Pulau Tekong on Monday and Tuesday.
Off-in-lieu ending soon. Monday is coming and now after NDP is over, no more relaxing. September will see us going to Brunei for Ex Lancer. Ok...digress too much already.
River crossing for the battalion...all the way to Tekong...not looking forward one bit but it sounds kind of fun. Don't know how it is going to be conducted but looks kind of scary too. Anyway, there is a river in Tekong? Never heard of it. Haha. Maybe its some man-made pool. Well, as usual I'll be covering the event but this time in the safety boat. Can see myself suffering from motion sickness...but not as much as Army sickness.

Thz Azri. Haha :P

New Programs on the shelf???

Found this interesting and rather funny.

A letter to the Tech Support...

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of new space and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure.
In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs and launches during system initialisation, where it monitors all other system activity. Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Drunken Boys Night 2.5 and Saturday Football 5.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected.
I cannot seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run some of my other favourite applications. I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but the uninstall does not work on this program.
Can you please help me!!!???
Thanks,
A TROUBLED USER

##################################

Dear TROUBLED USER,
This is a very common problem men complain about, but is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is merely a UTILITIES & ENTERTAINMENT program. Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM and designed by its creator to run everything.
It is unlikely you would be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert to Girlfriend 7.0.
Hidden operating files within your system would cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0 so nothing is gained. It is impossible to uninstall, delete, or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 is not desinged to do this.
Some have tried to install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than the original system. Look in your manual under "Warnings- Alimony/Child support". I recommendyou keep Wife 1.0 and deal with the situation.
I suggest installing background application C:\YES DEAR to alleviate software augmentation. Having installed Wife 1.0 myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibilty for faults and prolblems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\APOLOGISE. In any case avoid excessive use of C:\YES DEAR because ultimately you may have to give the APOLOGISE command before the operating system will return to normal. The sytstem will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs.
Wife 1.0 is a great program, but very high-maintenance. Consider buying additional software to improve the performance of Wife 1.0. I recommend Flowers 3.1 and diamonds 2k. Do not, unde any circumstances install Secretary with Short Skirt 3.3. This is not a supported application for Wife 1.0 and is likely to cause irreversible damage to the operating system.
Best of Luck,
Tech Support

Below is also similar but I find it more funny.

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable programs such as EPL 5.0 and NBA 3.0. And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do?
Desperate

################################

Dear Desperate,
First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Try to enter the command C:\I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and download Tears 6.2 t install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5
But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will create Snoring Loudly.WAV files. Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 or reinstall another Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.
In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7.
Good Luck!

Halfway through

So fast Wednesday already. This week's block leave went by surprisingly fast. Let's see what I did this past few days:
1. went to JB with Azri and Ong on Monday, bought DVDs, ate sushi and this unhygenic street hawker. It was GOOD!
2. Tuesday I was on duty at the Medical Centre. Nothing much to explain.
3. went swimming in the morning with Kelvin, ate lunch at this new place in Lot1 and went to the library. Nothing spectacular happened. Just an ordinary Wednesday.
Tomorrow on duty again with Chandra. Must remember to bring Friends CD to watch at night. Haha. Hmm...nothing fun happened so far.

Food Glorious Food...

Yesterday went to a charity drive buffet with Kelvin at the Expo since he has a free tix. When we arrived, we were greeted with a long line of buffet tables lined up with 500 different dishes. Let me try to recall some of them: oysters, mussels, nasi briyani, sushi, mashed potatoes, spaghetti, wheels of cheese, finger food, confectionery, ice kachang, chendol, almond jelly and other kinds of delicacies that I have never seen before.
Not a lot of people turned out for the event. Nevermind then, just more food for us. We took a lot of everything at first but realised that a bit of everything was the way to go since our stomach can only take so much. The food was delicious and there was never a shortage. Too bad we didn't bring a long a camera.
Now suffering from stomachache. Maybe because of all the stuffing. Haha.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Watched the movie yesterday at Causeway Point with Cheah, Ong, Kelvin and Azri. Have to say that the movie was not bad (I noe, I noe limited vocab). The opening was majestic; the music was marvelous and the chocolate looked yummy. What more can I say...I love chocolate.
the story was quite subtle; no violence, no evil villain and the messages were sent through the songs that the Oompalumpas (dunno whether the spelling is correct) sang after each kid suffered a mishap. Johnny Depp played the eccentric Mr. Willy Winka rather well but the children looked rather scary to me with their ear to ear grin, sparkling eyes and their cute dimples (like Azri haha). Here's what happened to the four kids:
1.Augustus was sucked up the chocolate vaccuum thingy after he fell into the river of chocolate.
2.Violet turned, well...violet after eating a 3-course meal chewing gum and swelled up like a blueberry.
3.Veruca; this spoilt brat was sent down the rubbish chute together with the rest of the bad nuts by the trained squirrels.
4.Mike was stretched after he shrunk himself into a television set (smarty pants!)

Charlie was left and was told that he won the ultimate prize, to be the heir of Mr. Wonka and inherit the chocolate factory but turned it down after learning that he has to leave his family behind.
I wouldn't give up my family for all the chocolate in the world

Wise words,Charlie. Indeed it was as the devastated and confused Wonkaset went to find out why Charlie turned down the offer. He learned that family the most important thing in everybodys life. They went to visit Wonka's father and was soon forgiven...so easy! Seeing how important family is, Wonka reconsider letting Charlie and his family live in the Chocolate factory. The end.

Cool stuff:
1.the glass elevator that can go anywhere...provided the button is available.
2.the forest where everything is edible, even Wonka himself (but that is cannibalism and it is in fact frowned upon in many societies)
3.Wonka's glasses are totally rad!
4.how Mt. Fudge in fact all that is inside, can fit into the factory.
5.Wonka stuttering and showing funny mouth expressions when all he wanted to say was parents.
6.there are no asian winners...bummer

It certainly was a unique movie but that is Tim Burton's style...dark.

Poems...Poems...

Imagination ran wild lately...

One door closes, another one opens;
from it i saw a ray of bright light.
Sweet music came from the inside and the room beckons,
for me to enter, I feel it was right.
As i took the first step, the step that will start the journey.
The music, the sweet soothing music, just sway me.
Inside I saw the riches, the fruitful trees,
the colourful rainbow, the magnificent sceneries;
I never felt so free.
As I walk deeper, someone took my hands;
I looked up and saw that it belongs to my friend.
In this heaven, that seems to go on forever,
its good to know that we still have each other.

Continuation...

Created this in the treatment room just now...

Darkness sets in...the door closes;
entered both of us, in opposite directions.
I lit up a match, you blew it off;
seeing this, i knew that reconciliation was tough.
Not a window in sight and the air is stale;
deep inside, i never foresaw that we could fail.
I felt cold, the room feels tight;
I think about you, about us every night.
I cannot see in the dark and fear took over;
I felt left out, and pushed all the way to the rear.
Eventually the darkness will leave and the door will open;
hopefully by then, we'll be moving off in the same direction.

2003 UB313...the 10th planet?

Artists concept of the view from the planet, looking back towards the distant sun. Credit: Robert Hurt (IPAC)

Came across an article in Berita Minggu regarding 2003 UB313.
Decided to do some research on my own...

Planet information
A BBC site about the planet (not in-depth)

In times of depression, I turn to myself for salvation...

Juz something that i whipped out in the morning while waiting to stand down from duty at Marina.

You let yourself go...I did not leave;
I stood where I was but you did not seem to see.
You make this seem that I was to blame,
make me feel I was a pawn in your game.
I thought you understood, I thought you knew...
That I am still here waiting for you.
Your words poison me, although I did not show;
my disappointment in you, in us just grow.
I have tried hard to bring us back together,
to the pasture where the grass is greener;
but you did not not seem to be eager.
The world stands watching, I stand tall;
in my mind, "I built this very wall!"

National Day

Yesterday, while at Marina covering for Carnival@Marina, I went for a walk by the bay. The view at night was superb. The cool breeze, the calm waves and the light that brightens up the skyline of Singapore really made me think...

In conjunction with the nation's 40th birthday, I took a few minutes to flashback and did some thinking.

Singapore began itsjourney as Temasek, a small fishing village. Its current name, Singapura, was called so after Sang Nila Utama saw an animal in the jungle (some say it was a tiger). History was soon made when Sir Stamfor Raffles came to Singapura in 1819.

Today, we celebrate 40 years of nation building woth fireworks, parties and lots of singing. I came to realise that the country has come a long way since its humble beginning under the management (is it the right word?) of our then PM Lee Kuan Yew. Problems of unemployment, lack of proper housing and defense soon became a major problem that needs to be resolved immediately. Thankfully, the swift thinking of PM Lee and the support of Singaporeans saw one of the regions Success Story.

Singaporeans went through many tough times together; the retrenchments, the implementation of Natinal Service and quite a while back, terrorism in our very own yard. This has bound Singaporeans together. Through thick and thin, Singaporeans will endure it together and will defend the country's interest. After all, this is where we belong.

I feel appreciative of all the bountiful opportunities that Singapore has provided for me; a proper home, excellent education and a peace. But Singaporeans will have to be ready and vigiliant to take on all the challenges that will come our way; declining birth rates, lack of land space and terrorism. I am certain that Singapore will be able to pull through.

I hope that Singapore's future will be bright. Peace, love and wealth will swarm its citizens.

Happy Birthday Singapore!
May you have more than you currently have!

Uniquely You
Composer / Lyricist:Ken Low

There's a place in my heart
That I keep for someone special
Memories forever true to me
Take me through those tougher days
Suddenly I found in you

All the joy, the smiles and laughter
All the hope and love divine
Always you - you on my mind
I always knew - there would be the day

When I give my heart away
To the one who'll always keep me safe and warm
If I should go - I won't ever forget
The special days, the times we had
And no matter what - whether winds of change
You will always be - Uniquely you...
...In my heart

Where I keep my little treasure
It's a time I always turn to
It's the place where you're by my side
I always knew - there would be the day

When I give my heart away
To the one who'll always keep me safe and warm
If I should go - I won't ever forget
The special days, the times we had
And no matter what - whether winds of change
You will always be - Uniquely you
There's a place in my heart

That I keep for someone special
It's a time I always turn to
It's the place where you're by my side
You're the special one - my only
'Cos it's you - Uniquely You
